Gamma Knife and port installation
Hi everyone,
Wednesday, I had the Gamma Knife procedure to zap three spots in my brain. While it was a long day, the nurses in Gamma Knife were wonderful and made the procedure as pleasant as possible. Diane and Kathy were really great. All I have to show for that are four holes in my head. You all thought I had a lot more than that, I'm sure.
Thursday was the installation of the port where the chemo will be administered. The procedure was just minor surgery and didn't take very long at all. The residual effects have not been very pleasant - pain, bruising, swelling, ugly - but that should all get better.
I will see the oncologist Monday and expect that chemo will start soon. Then I will really have something to complain about. In the meantime, it's full speed ahead.

Margaret, I just learned of your situation and shared it with Geri. You will be in our daily prayers, and we all realize the power of prayer can have amazing results! Please let Geri or I know if there is anything we can do for you...heck we might even help Roy a little bit too! We will be sharing your battle and your strength with our kids, who know you both as a friend, and as a former principal. With your friends and family support and encouragement, you will remain...forever the Optimist.
Thinking of you and Roy,
Gary
Hey Margaret,
I sent you a short note in the card. I want to ditto the offer to help out with anything you need done. I have a young friend (32 yrs. old) who is a pharmacist, and chose her own meds with her doctor to deal with the side effects of her chemo. After the third round she found that good ole candied ginger worked wonders! There is still something to be said for mother nature's "meds." This blog is a great idea. Keep the faith, and stay strong.
Anita
Barb & I have you and Roy in our thoughts and prayers...I don't think there is anyone stronger or of better character than you. We know you will be successful beating this. You touched our hearts the very first day we met you and you gave Valerie a tour of Magsig.
From Houston,
Don Eadie
Hi, Margaret, you are one determined and trusting lady and Jerry and I are with you and Roy all the way in this new journey. You are truly an optimist and we love you!
